Here is one of my favourite pictures from our holiday to the States. It was taken at Yosemite National Park (before the fires caused a lot of damage) where we stayed for a couple of days after our time in San Francisco, in a little canvas tent cabin (we even had a bear box!). It was perfect and so beautiful to be in the wilderness and away from a city for a while. The views were absolutely stunning as you can imagine - lots of amazing granite mountains and forests combining into a very dramatic landscape, that was really peaceful too, especially when we went off the beaten track a little bit.
I'm wearing my 'hiking' outfit - as you can tell I don't go on hikes very often but this was the best I could come up with with what I had brought with my in my rucksack for our four week adventure. Those wee maroon socks! haha This picture makes me smile as a few minutes after this was taken, I had a wee squirrel friend come and sit right beside me - cute!
It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and reminded me of home, with the drama of sheer cliffs and straight drops but a lot warmer! I don't think you would ever go hiking up in the north of Scotland in shorts! If you are ever in San Francisco, make the time to schedule in a trip to Yosemite - you won't be disappointed.
Have you been to Yosemite before?
