What a long week this has been and it's only Wednesday! Work has been really busy with two shows rehearsing and A Taste of Honey about to finish (if you are in Edinburgh and haven't seen it yet do...it's really good!). Last weekend was also jam packed, with a trip to Ayr for a belated Burns supper - such a good night, so will talk about it soon once I have had a chance to look through and sort all my photos (I was quite snap happy, especially with Robin toasting the Haggis).
Anyways, I have been thinking for a while that I would like to do something different with my hair. A few months ago I seen lots of bloggers talking about their hairstory and all the different looks they have had through the years and that got me thinking...my hair has basically been the same since I was 14, except the addition of a fringe during uni and maybe some hair mascara in my early teens (do you remember those?? Brilliant!).
I would absolutely love to dye my hair, even for a day to see what its like but as I love my natural colour, I am always afraid that I will never get it back if I do anything drastic. I really like the ombre trend at the minute but always reach a dead end when thinking how I could ombre my hair seeing as it is so light anyways, so I have done a wee bit of investigation into coloured ombre. I'm not thinking My Little Pony so much, as a little bit at the ends, just something to add a little difference when still keeping the same style.
Think I am tending to favour lilac...think that would go quite nice with blonde and I wouldn't have to colour coordinate my outfits too much around my hair (I already have enough problems without that!) I like the pink in the top and bottom rows too but as I am not much of a pink person day to day, I don't think this would work too well for me.
So this is what I have been thinking about and lusting over this week. What do you think of the coloured ombre trend? Do you think I would suit a bit of lilac in my hair? Do you have coloured ombre hair - comment with your blog so I can seeee!
Today's song on repeat - Best of Friends, Palma Violets. I have been listening to this band for a few weeks now after reading about them on Olivia's blog. I really like them and am going to see them next month in Edinburgh which I am really excited about. I thought the band name was quite fitting, given what I am thinking of doing with my hair. On a random side not though, I really hate palma violets sweeties, but moving on, this song is just really fun and upbeat and really difficult NOT to sing along to. Enjoy.

The lilac ombre would look really cute with your hair colour, I say go for it! I had my hair lilac for a while last year (when I first got it dyed it went BRIGHT blue then gradually faded to a cute my little pony style lilac) and it was a fun change.
ReplyDeleteOh and I totally remember hair mascara - I used to use a blue one on my side fringy bits. It looked terrible.

You can get the hair chalks now, in colours such as lavender and pink which are an easy way to try out the ombre effect without any long-term effects! Might be worth giving them a try to see if you like it before then dying it :) x
ReplyDeleteOh my god, hair mascara! I used to have a copper coloured one when I was like 13, damnnnnnn I forgot those things even existed, haha. I think lilac would look lovely on you, you don't see it on people all the time and it's a bit different. I think you should go for it, and if all else fails and you hate it (which I doubt) hair grows! Have you looked into some extensions or something to test it out first to see if you like it? I inadvertently rocked the ombre trend when I never bothered to get my highlights redone and let it grow out, I would get a lot of compliments on it which I found so funny / random.

Thanks for the comment on my girly socks post, you should post yours from Accessorize. All the shoes from that post are from Topshop btw, didn't meant for that to happen. Hair chalk sounds like a great idea, it might be wise to see if you like it first so yeah you should do that for sure. I'm sure you could find the chalks in the shade you're after. Let me know what you do, definitely make a follow up post.
DeleteHair mascaraaaaaa! Oh, memories. I had a glitter one, a purple and a copper. I was cool as chips. Oooh I quite like the lilac hair trend just now, and I really do think you would suit it. I've heard great things about those hair chalks if you wanted to try it out first without committing yourself to something too drastic xx
ReplyDeleteI dyed my hair once and regretted it, I always had to keep up with it until last summer when i just let it grow out... You should try the temporary colours first to make sure you find the right colour for you!
ReplyDeleteBtw the My Little Pony comment made me laugh, ha!

I'm in the same situation! I'd love to dye my hair because I get bored of my natural colour, but I'm so scared that I might regret it ... :/ But I think you should try, and if you dont like it, then dye your hair in a colour closer of your natural colour :) Lilac would look amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteI followed you on GFC :)

If I were blonde I would definitely try lilac or pink ombre, you should go for it! Alas my hair is red so I could only really do the blonde ombre with that, but it seems to work well.

I love dip dye hair. I think it is such a natural and sexy look! Pastel colours are definitely gorgeous. I wish my hair was in good enough condition to add pastels!
